Rational Rec's new programme

Rational Rec’s new focus on commissioning interdisciplinary work is a development from our experience producing interdisciplinary art events in London from 2005-2008. In 2005 when Rational Rec began, there were no other ongoing events in London programming interdisciplinary artists and commissioning new work. The last few years has seen a great increase in this activity, but opportunities for commissions of collaborative interdisciplinary work remain limited. Rational Rec now seeks to fill this gap.

Our first major commission, financially supported by Arts Council England, will be presented at a London venue in July 2010.

During the commissioning process, there will be a number of open public dialogue events in a variety of London venues.  To find out when these are taking place, join our mailing list.

Commissioning interdisciplinary and collaborative projects is now at the centre of Rational Rec’s work. We have brought together three artists from diverse backgrounds at a pivotal stage in their careers, who work in emergent, socially or critically engaged practices to work together on a new work.

Our advisory board works with the selected artists and Rational Rec’s directors on bespoke professional development support to improve the artists’ careers and provide a springboard to future projects and commissions.
